Cheating Husband - How to Stomp on Your Wife's Heart

But you feel uneasy. You've felt uneasy for a while. It seems like he's staying out later and later when he works over, and then there was the time that he smelled like roses; the guys, he said, insisted on going out to a bar for a drink after the project was put to bed, and how was he to know it was a strip bar?

He called an hour ago to say he'd be late again tonight, maybe as late as midnight. But you found something last week that he didn't know you found: his stash.

Not of pot - that might have been better. No, this was his stash of condoms, all different kinds: ribbed, colored, glow in the dark. He also doesn't know you pulled out a notebook and wrote down how many of each kind were in each box.

Six are gone from the stash, three last week and three just this morning. Magnums. Ha. You grab your coat and head for the door. Last time, you followed his car from work to that hotel. Tonight, you're going to find out what room he's in. The clerk at the desk smiles when you say your name and that you're meeting your husband and want to surprise him. He checks ID, nods, winks, and hands you a card for the door. "Have fun."

"Oh, I will."

Room 429. Fourth floor. That's one of the pool suites, you remember; you checked out the floor plan carefully online just yesterday. Up to the room, slide the card carefully, green light, turn knob ever-so-silently -- and you are inside. You hear giggles from the bedroom. His secretary. His friggin' secretary, the one who was so nice to you at the Christmas party and who went with him on that Vegas trip. You wonder if she got a bracelet too.

"I could tell her."

Your husband answers. It's like a knife to your chest, the last hope that he really isn't there. "No, bad idea."

"But then we could be together." She whined the last word, like a child.

"Sam, I told you - I love my wife. I don't want a divorce. Can't we just keep this to ourselves?"

A heavy sigh, and then motion from the bedroom. You can hear springs creaking.

You want to leave now. But you can't. Your legs won't hold you up, suddenly you find yourself slipping to the floor, coat gathering beneath you, the door card sliding from between your fingers. You try to hold it back - you don't want them to hear, you don't want him to know you know yet. But you can feel it coming on, a wave of pressure in your head and chest, the sobs bubbling to the top with unstoppable force. Your high school sweetheart, your hero, your lover, your lifemate, in there with that - person -

You try to choke it back. You try.
